Catch Wrestling, or Catch-as-Catch-Can Wrestling is the king of wrestling arts utilizing sophisticated takedowns, slams, suplexes, saltos, cradles, pins, punishing submissions and superior ground control. The techniques are so varied, including standing wrestling and ground wrestling, it can be considered a complete martial arts system.
It developed over the centuries and was refined in the Lancashire region of England. The legendary school, Riley's Gym, later nick named the Snake Pit, was located in Wigan, England and produced world champion wrestlers including Billy Robinson and Karl Gotch.
